BELLEVUE – Bellevue’s oldest building, the Burrows Cabin, was transported Friday from its previous spot off 112th Avenue Northeast to Chism Beach Park.
The cabin was originally built by Civil War veteran Albert Burrows in 1883 at the foot of Southeast 15th Street near Lake Washington, close to the new location.
According to the Eastside Heritage Center, this is the cabin’s third relocation.

In the 1930s, the cabin was moved to Bellevue Way then to its current location in 1946, where it served as a private residence.
With its current site slated for redevelopment, owners Ty and Terry Thorpe, donated the cabin to the city along with $10,000 to assist in the preservation.
The city is currently considering historical programs for the Burrows Cabin.
