BELLINGHAM, Wash. — Crews are working to clear "car-sized" boulders that are blocking all lanes of State Route 11 south of Bellingham following a rockslide.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Kesley Harding first posed about the closure at 12:40 a.m. Saturday. Harding said SR 11 is fully blocked at mile post 13, north of Oyster Creek and about 25 minutes south of Bellingham, along the Samish Bay coast.
The National Weather Service told KING 5 at this time it doesn't appear the rockslide was due to weather conditions.
The Washington State Patrol said crews are on scene but drivers should expect an extended closure, Drivers are advised to consider an alternative route.
There is no estimated time of reopening.
