Morning news anchor Brad Goode is leaving KING 5 News.

Goode has anchored the top ranked morning newscast in Seattle with Joyce Taylor, Rich Marriott, and Tracy Taylor for the past six years. He will sign off August 5.

I have had an incredible run here at KING-TV, said Goode. I know the type of newscasts we worked hard to produce everyday were as good as any in the country.

Goode came to KING from CNBC in New York, where he was an anchor and reporter for the nation s top business TV network. Goode has won a number of awards for his work at KING and other stations around the country.

Having someone with Brad s knowledge of the business world was a real benefit for us, said Mark Ginther, Executive News Director of KING TV. During the recent historic economic downfall, Brad was essential in reporting and interpreting information for our viewers.

Competition between Seattle television stations increased significantly during Goode s tenure on the KING morning news. Three of the four stations producing news expanded newscasts and staffs.

Morning news is a very important day part for local television stations, said Ray Heacox, President and General Manager of KING TV. Brad s network experience as well as a solid background in local news helped KING lead the morning news race.

KING was Goode s second stop in Seattle. Before leaving for New York, he was an anchor at KIRO-TV, where he first teamed with Joyce Taylor.

I fell in love with Seattle. When the chance to return came up, I couldn t say no, said Goode. I was fortunate to be able to come to KING and reunite with Joyce.

He and his family consider Seattle home and through his new company, Goode News Media, Goode intends to contribute to the community. Over the years he has donated his time and talents to help other organizations. He will continue to serve as an emcee, auctioneer, and event planner for groups all around the country.

The search for Goode s replacement will begin immediately.
