A group protesting excessive airplane noise over Burien will host a meeting Tuesday about the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decision to allow planes to turn over the city.

The Quiet Skies Coalition is concerned about commuter planes from Sea-Tac Airport flying low and loud over homes, schools, and parks.

The FAA recently issued a categorical exclusion, meaning turbo-prop planes will continue to turn west over Burien despite the city reaching an agreement with the FAA last spring to stop those routes.

After the agreement was made, the FAA issued a new environmental analysis in June 2017 that found “no significant or reportable noise impacts.”

The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at Gregory Heights Elementary School, 16201 16th Avenue Southwest, Burien.
