LOS ANGELES - Los Angeles prosecutors have rejected filing elder abuse charges against Casey Kasem's widow.

A charge evaluation sheet released Friday by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office states there is insufficient evidence to file charges against Jean Kasem.

She was married to the radio personality for more than 30 years, but was stripped of control over his medical care in the final days of his life.

Casey Kasem died in June 2014 in Washington state, where his wife took him after removing him from a medical facility in California where he was receiving around-the-clock care.

The longtime "American Top 40" host had a form of dementia and severe bedsores when he died.

His daughter, Kerri Kasem, was named his conservator and sought elder abuse charges against her stepmother.

A legal battle ensued between Kerri Kasem and Jean Kasem over the late DJ's health care in his final months. He died at a hospital in Gig Harbor and court records show his body remains were taken to a funeral home in Tacoma more than a month later.

Additional controversy arose after his death, when Kasem's body went missing after his daughter asked a Pierce County superior judge for authorization to seek an autopsy and temporary restraining order to ensure the body would not be cremated until after the autopsy was completed.

Despite the restraining order, Kasem's widow moved his remains from Washington state to Montreal.

He was eventually buried in Norway.
