Police responded to reports of a shooting near the 3000 block of 21st Avenue West around 6:30 p.m. At the scene, a mother told police that her child had been shot.
The woman told dispatchers she was in the bathroom when she heard a gunshot. Her husband, the suspect, told her it was a blank. But when she went to check on her baby, she discovered he had been shot in the head, according to court documents.
Seattle Fire Department crews arrived and confirmed the child died at the scene.
Other 911 calls stated a man shot multiple rounds at random and was on the move in the Magnolia neighborhood.
A large portion of the area was placed on lockdown to search for the suspect. The King County Sheriff's Office helicopter was also used in the chase.
Police found the suspect at a gas station less than a block away from his house.
According to court documents, the man told police he used PCP earlier in the day and "blamed his actions on demons."
Ali Price watched the crime scene unfold in front of her.
"K9 units and firetrucks, and they were running to the residence," she said. "It is very strange and scary, for sure."
