PORTLAND, Ore. — Within days of their elegant portraits being shared by the Oregon Humane Society, a voluptuous couple of cats have been adopted.
On Friday, OHS shared a media release about the two "chonky" cats, Yuki and Nikko. According to the shelter, the two 9-year-old cats came to OHS after their previous owner could no longer care for them.
Together, the two cats weighed about 45 pounds. Healthy adult domestic house cats typically weigh between 8 and 12 pounds, so the two together could easily outweigh four typical kitties. Of the two, Yuki was the weightier.
"They are as sweet and friendly as they are large, and they are looking for a loving home together," OHS said.
Both brothers and a bonded pair, OHS had hoped to find someone who could adopt the two of them together.
Someone got the message, and quickly, because the brothers were adopted together over the weekend. A representative for OHS said they didn't know the specifics of the diet plan for the cats at their new home, but staff had discussed the need for one with their new host.
