Port Angeles Police are warning about a cougar on the loose in the area.
An officer spotted the adult cougar Thursday night near the 1200 Block of Tumwater Truck Route. The officer said it crossed in front of his patrol car and disappeared into a ravine.
The Port Angeles Police Department suggests cougar encounters within the city limits are not frequent but do happen from time to time.
