Fire crews battled a 2-alarm shipping container fire on South Marginal way in Seattle Monday afternoon.
Several agencies responded to the fire that broke out on a barge about 4 p.m. The containers are owned by Alaska Marine Lines at 5600 West Marginal Way SW. The company specializes in shipping containers to Alaska and Hawaii by barge.
Seattle Fire said spontaneous combustion of garbage caused the fire, and declared the fire under control about 6 p.m.
Crews do not know what was in the containers, but reports indicate there could be propane tanks on board.
No injuries were reported.
