SEATTLE – Crystal Mountain ski area says it will open for the season Saturday.

The ski area says Tuesday's windstorm knocked out power and closed Highway 410, delaying the opening.

This week's storms dumped over a foot of new snow between 5,880 and 6,856 feet, "adding just enough snow to the twelve inch base the resort already accumulated the weekend prior."

Skiing and snowboarding will be limited to the Green Valley area which includes intermediate and expert level terrain. There isn't enough snow on the lower slopes for beginner terrain.

The Mount Rainier Gondola will be open to foot traffic.

The lifts will be open 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Mount Baker and Whistler opened Thursday.
