THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Thurston County detectives released a photo of a car belonging to a missing couple under what detectives called "suspicious" circumstances.
Deputies conducted a welfare check for Karen Koep and Davido on Nov. 13 after one of them didn’t show up to work. Deputies went to their home in Lake Forest Development and found the couple was missing.
The circumstances around their disappearance are suspicious, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
The couple’s car was later found in Olympia near 67th Avenue Southeast and Rainier Road Southeast.
The sheriff's office released a photo of the couple's car hoping someone who saw it recently will let detectives know where and when.
"We have no direction to go," said Mike Brooks, Thurston County Lieutenant.
Brooks said the office is not releasing all of the details about the case, but said detectives consider the disappearance to be an isolated case.
He said evidence found inside the couple's Olympia home made investigators think the couple was missing together.
Brooks said Lacey Police did arrest someone who was in possession of something that belonged to the couple on Monday night, but the person was released. Brooks said it is not clear the person had the couple's permission to have that property.
Brooks said that person is a tenant of a property owned by the couple.
Koep's sister, Pauline Dutton said the family is trying to remain hopeful the couple will be found safe.
"It's really hard right now because we don't have any answers," Dutton said.
Dutton described her sister as someone who is always willing to help someone.
"She will jump out of her car in the rain to give you an umbrella," Dutton said.
Dutton said her sister and brother-in-law have a great relationship and have been together for more than 30 years.
She said her sister and Davido are selfless.
"He always was the first person to volunteer to step up to do anything," Dutton said. "You don't even have to ask him, he is there to be of service to others."
