FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — A driver struck and killed a 72-year-old woman as she was crossing the street in Federal Way on Friday afternoon.
South King Fire crews responded to reports of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision around 12:30 p.m. near the 600 block of SW 320th Street, according to the Federal Way Police Department (FWPD).
The woman was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by a driver. The woman died at the scene, despite life-saving attempts by officers and firefighters, according to FWPD.
Police say impairment of the driver is not believed to be a factor in the collision.
The department's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating.
