DUVALL, Wash. – Duvall Police Sgt. Michael DeBock was shot and the suspect led police on a high speed chase before being shot by deputies late Monday.
The Bellevue Police Department said it started around 10:45 p.m. with 911 calls about someone firing a paintball gun at people from a vehicle. Several homes were hit by paintballs.
Sgt. DeBock located the suspect vehicle at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Duvall. Police say the driver backed his vehicle into the sergeant's vehicle and then fired at least one round from a handgun and hit the sergeant in the thigh.
Despite the injury, the sergeant began chasing the suspect with the help of King County Sheriff's deputies, reaching speeds up to 90 mph. Police say the suspect fired another shot during the chase, hitting the rear window of one King County deputy's vehicle.
Deputies were able to blow out two of the suspect's tires using spike strips and the vehicle was stopped in the 5500 block of Preston Fall City Road.
Police say the suspect, a 47-year-old Woodinville resident, got out and fired another shot into the ground. A responding SWAT team eventually shot the suspect in the hand and he was taken into custody.
DeBock is an 11-year veteran. His injuries are not considered life threatening.
