PUYALLUP, Wash. — An elderly man was killed Thursday morning after he was struck by a train in Puyallup.
The Puyallup Police Department said officers and emergency crews were called just before 8:45 a.m. for a pedestrian struck by a train in the 100 block of North Meridian. Officers found a 75-year-old man from Puyallup unconscious next to the train tracks. He was declared dead at the scene by emergency crews.

The deadly collision resulted in short-term road closures, with several crossings blocked.
The crossing is equipped with gates, lights and bells, according to BNSF.
