SILVERDALE, Wash. — Naval base personnel in Kitsap County said they stopped a leak that caused petroleum to spill near Silverdale on Wednesday afternoon.
Naval Base Kitsap said in a release that authorities identified a spill at the Bangor waterfront just after 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The Navy discovered a leaking onshore underground pipe Thursday that caused the petroleum leak. The leak was stopped Thursday, according to the Navy.
Investigators have not determined the amount of petroleum spilled.
