Everett family says Amazon delivery driver stole their cat

Ray and Karin Ishak said Amazon has not been helpful.

EVERETT, Wash. — For over a week, Ray and Karin Ishak have been trying to track down their 13-year-old cat Feefee. She was last seen on video with an Amazon delivery driver on July 21.

“We saw when the driver was leaving. She was petting the cat and playing with the cat, which is not abnormal," Ray said.

Their security cameras are motion-activated, but the recording timed out after it caught the first interaction. In an instant, you see the driver petting the cat, and then both are gone from the driveway, with the car driving away.

“The driver driving away and there’s not a cat in sight. It’s pretty obvious the cat disappeared in those seconds," he said. Ray filed a report with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.

In emails between Karin and Amazon, the company confirmed the driver had the cat. It wrote in one email "the driver contacted the police department to return the cat."

“I talked to the sheriff’s department again, gave them the case number, asked if anybody brought the cat in. They haven’t heard from anybody. I called the Everett PD and nothing," Ray said.

He pressed Amazon to share the driver's city so he could check with local law enforcement but said the company refused to provide that information.

In the email above, Amazon recommended the family file a theft report with law enforcement.

Making matters worse, the couple had been preparing for their youngest son's wedding, which took place this past weekend. This meant family members, especially the grandkids, were expected to see Feefee.

“The emotional distress for me having to lie to my grandkids that the cat is safe and fine. Then, watching my granddaughters cry after they found out because they heard us talk about it. It was a double whammy from every single front," he said.

Ray wants to believe the driver had good intentions, perhaps thinking Feefee was a stray. However, it's been made clear she is a beloved cat that is dearly missed.

“Maybe you did this out of the kindness of your heart. I appreciate it, but bring me my cat back," he said.

KING 5 reached out to Amazon. In a statement, the company said it has been in touch with the family and are supporting the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office investigation. The delivery driver, according to Amazon, is "no longer delivering packages on Amazon's behalf."
