Man shot at Everett apartment complex, suspect not in custody

Police responded to the scene at 2 West Casino Road after a report of a gunshot that came in around 2:30 p.m.

EVERETT, Wash. — A man in his 20s is expected to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being shot at an Everett apartment complex Monday afternoon.

Police responded to the scene at 2 West Casino Road after a report of a gunshot that came in around 2:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

The injured man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center, according to the Everett Police Department.

Meanwhile, the suspect was believed to still be inside an apartment after the shooting.

A SWAT team was called to the scene.

A search warrant was served but the suspect was not found inside the apartment.

The suspect and man who was shot knew each other, according to police.

Everett KinderCare was impacted when police set up a perimeter around the apartment complex. Parents were asked to call 911 so an officer could escort them to pick up their children.

Horizon Elementary, too, was impacted as the incident occurred around the time school was set to let out. The Mukilteo School District was told by police to hold any students who walk home to the east of the school. Buses and pickups were allowed to continue.
