EVERETT, Wash. — Jurors found the former owner of an Everett pub guilty of child rape Thursday.
Christian Sayre, the former owner of the Anchor Pub, was convicted of four counts of third-degree child rape and two counts of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
The trial centered around one survivor, who was 15 at the time. However, Sayre will face three more trials on allegations of sex offenses against over a dozen other victims.
In the most recent case, Sayre had sex with the 15-year-old four times between October 2012 and August 2013.
Sayre met the teen at the Everett Mall when she was 14. The girl told police she was "basically homeless" and killing time at the mall. The two started spending time together, and the girl said she would sometimes stay at Sayre's condo, according to probable cause documents.
The teen told police that Sayre made her perform sexual acts and have sex with him.
Police began investigating Sayre in 2021 after multiple survivors identified Sayre in alleged cases of sexual assault. The survivors reported going to the Anchor Pub and blacking out after having a few drinks.
Sayre was initially arrested in October 2021, and since then, prosecutors have filed additional charges against him as more survivors came forward.
The former pub owner is charged with 12 additional counts, including second-degree rape and indecent liberties, according to amended charging documents filed Sept. 4.
Earlier this year, Sayre’s attorneys filed motions to sever the counts, meaning they would not all be tried at the same trial. This can be done to ensure a defendant has a fair trial.
Sayre’s next three trials will begin on Oct. 14, Nov. 12 and Jan. 6, 2025.
After Sayre’s first trial verdict, he was taken into custody and is being held without bail. His sentencing is set for Jan. 16, 2025.
