The Sound Transit Board is set to approve the construction of a new parking lot in Edmonds.
Sound Transit and Salish Crossing, LLC would sign a five-year lease for land to open 103 more parking spaces. The parking lot is expected to be ready May 1.
Riders complain the existing lot in Edmonds, which holds 150 vehicles, fills up too fast.
Ridership is low on the North Sounder commuter train and Sound Transit hopes that additional parking will help increase numbers.
The North Sounder averages 1,010 riders per day, 3,000 riders below expected numbers from when the route was created.
By comparison, the South Sounder has 9,280 riders per day on average.
