1 dead in Parkland house fire

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to officials.

PARKLAND, Wash. — One person has died in a house fire in the Parkland area on Tuesday evening.

According to Central Pierce Fire and Rescue, the garage of a home in the 800 block of 107th Street South was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived on Feb. 27. The crews were able to extinguish the fire before the entire house was destroyed.

Video from the scene shows smoke clouding the neighborhood as firefighters attempt to enter the home and put out the fire. 

The victim was the only person inside the home at the time of the fire. No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the fire department.
