1 person killed, suspect arrested in Sumner DUI crash

The driver who is believed to have caused the accident was arrested for vehicular homicide.

SUMNER, Wash. — One person died after a DUI crash in Sumner on Wednesday, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo. 

The ramp to southbound state Route 167 from state Route 410 is fully blocked while an investigation and clean-up is underway. 

The driver who is believed to have caused the crash was headed northbound on SR 167 and merging onto eastbound SR 410 when they left the roadway on a curve and struck a vehicle that was merging onto southbound SR 167. The collision was head-on. A third vehicle was also impacted in the crash.

The driver who was struck head-on died at the scene. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of DUI Vehicular Homicide, according to Dattilo. 

Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes until further notice.
