Friday Harbor 'explosives' actually Mighty Putty

Originally though to be C-4, investigators determined the bars to be Mighty Putty, a harmless epoxy.
What was first thought to be C-4 was actually "Mighty Putty," a harmless epoxy.

A bomb squad was called to the San Juan Courthouse in Friday Harbor on Sunday afternoon after a resident showed up with suspicious containers that had been found in a garage.

According to the San Juan County Department of Emergency Management, investigators determined the bars to be Mighty Putty, a harmless epoxy. They say they used extra caution because the Mighty Putty had been found stored with guns and ammo.

For most of the afternoon, the roads around the courthouse were closed after someone dropped off four bars of what appeared to be explosive C-4 at the sheriff's office.

The items were held in the resident's car for several hours as officials awaited the arrival of the bomb squad.

There was no impact on ferry travel in and out of Friday Harbor.
