Officer Diego Moreno was known for helping others even before starting his police career. Years ago, he taught gymnastics to kids at The Little Gym in Kent.
Karah Wynne's kids, now teenagers, took gymnastics with Moreno when they were just 3 and 4-years-old. "He was so good with the kids, he was such a great young adult at the time," said Wynne.
Tommy Wynne still remembers Moreno's kindness during those days. "He worked really well with us and he really cared about us."
Years later, Karah Wynne took Tommy's Cub Scout troop to the Kent Police Department. "He's such a good man for young boys to look up to, boys in every part of the community. He just represents Kent well."
Sunday's news of Moreno's death hit the Wynne home hard, but they say they will always remember and celebrate the way he lived.
"He showed me that you could be such a young person and have a big impact," said Tommy. "It's a been playing a big part in my life, honestly."
Tommy's mom adds, "He was making a difference in a short amount of time."
