GIG HARBOR, Wash. — Authorities are investigating human remains that were found Wednesday near a Gig Harbor transit center.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Department said a citizen found human remains along a creek near the Purdy Park and Ride just after 5:45 p.m. The citizen led the deputies to the creek where human remains were found, according to a Facebook post from the department Thursday.
Officials said the human remains were taken to the medical examiner's officer for investigation.
Detectives and forensics teams were called to the park to investigate. The department did not release more details on how long the remains were at the location as of Thursday afternoon.
