Idaho Mega Millions winner may have to split fortune

Holly Lahti won $190 million in a recent Mega Millions drawing. Idaho public records show she married in 2001 and there are no current divorce records. In Idaho, any income earned during marriage is split between the couple.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho -- The Rathdrum, Idaho woman who won $190 million in the recent Mega Millions lottery may have to split her winnings with her husband.

Idaho Lottery Commission officials named Holly Lahti as the winner from a ticket purchased at a Post Falls store. At the time, she was not present at the check ceremony.

Officials said sheplanned to speak to the media after she settled her financial plans and requested privacy for now.

Butaccording to Idaho public records, Holly Alford was married to Joshua Lahti in 2001 and took the last name Lahti.

There is no record of a divorce involving the couple and it is unknown what their current status is.

Scott Nass, a family attorney in Coeur d'Alene, said Idaho is a community property state.Nass said that any income earned during the time of marriage is split between the couple.

Lahti worked for a time at a Rathdrum bank, where employees were very excited for her and her 2 young children, but made no mention of her husband.

Lahti is sharing the Mega Millions jackpot with a couple from Soap Lake, Washington, Jim and Carolyn McCullar.
