Investigation underway after woman followed, robbed at gunpoint in Kent

The Kent Police Department is investigating the incident, which happened in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon.

KENT, Wash. — An investigation is underway after a woman was held up at gunpoint outside a home in Kent on Wednesday afternoon. The incident was captured on doorbell surveillance cameras, showing the terrifying moments outside a home near 116th Avenue Southeast in Kent.

A neighbor, who did not want to be named, said she is now on high alert after watching the whole interaction unfold in person around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The video captures a 16-second of the altercation. On video, the woman is seen being robbed in gunpoint for her purse in the middle of the day.

A neighbor said the woman was followed home by a man who attempted to rob her. The neighbor said she saw the woman drop her bag and run inside as the man sped off in a vehicle that was parked out of the camera's sight.

“The guy had already jumped out and had a gun on my neighbor," the witness neighbor said. "And she freaks out ... he says, 'Give me your purse!'"

The Kent Police Department has not responded to several requests for additional information, however police records show there is a case number associated with this date and time. A police department employee confirmed to KING 5 that police are investigating.
