Ironworker Travis Corbet was Marine veteran from Oregon

Travis Corbet, 33, was one of two ironworkers killed while dismantling a crane in downtown Seattle.

"He's a friend, he's a son, he's a brother, he's a nephew, and he just touched so many people," Samantha Corbet described her husband Travis Corbet.

Samantha spoke to NBC Nightly News, sharing details about Travis after he died Saturday dismantling a crane in downtown Seattle

The 33-year-old ironworker had served as a Marine for about five years, according to Samantha. He moved to Oregon City where he started his career as an ironworker. He enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing.

Samantha said she worried about the risk factors of her husband's job. But, she says, he would tell her not to worry, it's safe.

"This is literally my worst fear come true," she said.

The two were married for nearly a year and were planning on taking their honeymoon trip in June.

"[Travis was] the best friend you could ask for, he was the best partner that I could have asked for, he was just unbelievable, its really tragic that the world lost such a special person this soon," Samantha said.

The Oregonian reports that Travis was a member of the union, Local 29 of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental, and Reinforcing Ironworkers, for at least 10 years.

He was also a journeyman and experienced in working on tower cranes, according to Chris McClain, business manager for Iron Workers Local Union #86.
