The McChord Field north gate on Joint Base Lewis-McChord will permanently close at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 31.
The gate is located at 112th Street and South Tacoma Way.
The closure is to improve security on the base, according to the JBLM Directorate of Emergency Services.
A post on the JBLM Facebook page said the McChord Field Barnes Gate’s hours will be extended to 5 a.m. – 8 p.m. every day.
Barnes Gate is located off Perimeter Road, about a mile from Interstate 5 exit 123.
