SEATTLE - A new art piece is brightening the streets of downtown Seattle.
Construction workers on Sundayinstalled a 27-foot tall flowerpot at the Sheraton Hotel near the corner of 7th Ave. and Union Street. The sculpture, called Urban Garden, was designed by local artist Ginny Ruffner.
Commissioned by the hotel's ownership group, the 9,950-pound sculpture features a nine-foot-wide yellow daisy that spins continuously.
Over the course of a programmed cycle (approximately 15-minutes), a red watering can will tilt and water the flower pot and bluebells will open and close.
A window in the base of the flower pot will offer viewers an opportunity to watch the interior mechanisms at work.
