King County Metro bus drives down embankment in Renton, injuring 8

The bus driver suffered a medical emergency, which caused the bus to crash, police said.

RENTON, Wash. — Eight people were injured when a King County Metro bus driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed down an embankment in Renton on Friday night. 

Renton police and firefighters responded to the area of South 15th Street and Talbot Road South around 6:30 p.m. The Metro bus crashed into an embankment and became stuck in a ditch, police said. 

The bus driver suffered a medical emergency, which caused the bus to crash, police said. Medics treated the driver at the scene. 

Eight passengers suffered minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals. 

South Puget Drive is closed in both directions as police investigate and work to remove the bus from the ditch.
