The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office is reopening its office in Kingston next week to the public again to allow for filing police reports, applying for concealed pistol licenses and other services.

The north county office was closed to the public nine years ago because of budgetary constraints. It was available to north end deputies to write reports and conduct interviews.

Since the end of the recession, the Sheriff's Office has been able to rehire support service positions that were left open and is now able to staff the office, said Deputy Scott Wilson, a spokesman for the office.

Starting May 8, the office at 26076 Illinois Avenue NE will open to the public Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The office will closed from 11:30 a.m. to noon.

A support specialist will be available at the office to assist the public. Additional services or hours may be added depending on demand.
