Landslide closes northbound I-5 in Bellingham

The Washington State Patrol said at least two vehicles were caught in the landslide, including a semi-truck. No injuries were reported.

BELLINGHAM, Wash. — All northbound Interstate 5 lanes are blocked in Bellingham near Iowa St. due to a landslide, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding first posted about the incident at 5:19 a.m. Northbound I-5 is fully blocked and southbound I-5 is also partially blocked by tree debris and mud six inches deep.

Harding said at least two vehicles were caught in the landslide, including a semi-truck. No injuries were reported.

Detours are set in place and traffic delays are expected. There is no estimated time of reopening.
