SEATTLE -- Amtrak says service is canceled between Seattle and Portland until Saturday because of landslides along the route.
BNSF, which own the tracks, has placed a 48-hour moratorium, suspending all rail traffic in the area between Everett and Portland, Amtrak says.
Alternate transportation will be provided for Amtrak Cascades service between Seattle and Everett. All Cascades service between Seattle and Portland is canceled, with no alternate transportation.
Amtrak says Empire Builder and Coast Starlight service is also impacted, with no alternate transportation at this time.
Service between Everett and Vancouver, BC, and between Portland and Eugene, is not affected.
The closure also affects the Northline Sounder commuter train between Everett and Seattle.
