LYNNWOOD, Wash. — Detectives with the Lynnwood Police Department are investigating three armed robberies. They happened in October; all of them were in parking lots.
The first robbery happened on Oct. 11 around 9 p.m. according to Maren McKay, the public information officer for the department. A man had placed an ad to sell his car on Facebook Marketplace. He went to the parking lot of the CVS off Highway 99 to make the sale.
"When he arrived, he was held at gunpoint by two male subjects. They requested he get out of his vehicle. He did. They got in his vehicle and drove off. Luckily, nobody was injured in this incident," McKay said.
The second robbery happened Oct. 20 also around 9 p.m. according to McKay. Two people on their first date were sitting in the parking lot of the Alderwood Mall.
"They are approached by two male subjects who held them at gunpoint and demanded them to get out of the car. The two subjects got in the vehicle and fled. Thankfully, nobody was injured in that incident either," she said.
The third robbery happened Oct. 29 around 7 p.m., according to McKay. A family had just left the Safeway when they were ambushed in the parking lot.
"After they left, they were approached by three male subjects who jumped out of the bushes nearby and demanded their purses and money. One of them flashed a handgun at the family. When they got their purses, they took off," she said.
As the investigation continues, the police department is encouraging the community to be aware of their surroundings, especially in parking lots.
At this time, there's no description of the robbers. Those with any information that could help police solve these cases are encouraged to reach out to Detective George Bucholtz by email at gbucholtz@lynnwoodwa.gov.
