Man accused of killing his 2 brothers near Poulsbo

POULSBO, Wash. — A 23-year-old man is accused of killing two of his half-brothers near Poulsbo on Wednesday, according to Kitsap County Superior Court.

Seth South is charged with two counts of second-degree domestic violence murder for allegedly killing his two teenage brothers, ages 16 and 17, inside the home where they all lived together.

Around 3 p.m., Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home in the 16400 block of Scandia Road Northwest when South reportedly called 911 and told dispatch that his brother slit his own throat, probable cause documents state. In the moments following on the phone call, documents state there was the sound of fighting in the background and then the line went silent.

When deputies arrived, they found one of the brothers face down in the kitchen in a pool of blood. Two kitchen knives were found near the brother’s body, documents state.

Deputies continued searching the house and found the second brother at the top of the staircase. Documents state his throat was also slit. At least three guns were found inside bedrooms at the house.

South was not at the scene and was believed to have fled in his truck. After a brief manhunt on Wednesday evening, South was located near Bonney Lake around 8:30 p.m.

Documents state the center console, shifting knob and driver’s seat in South’s truck were covered in blood, along with bloody clothing found inside.

When speaking to deputies, South allegedly said that one of his brothers had killed the other and South admitted that he had then fatally stabbed one of the brothers. 

Detectives spoke with family members who said South said he “killed ‘the boys’” and that he was fleeing to murder his other brother, who lives in another state.

At a court hearing on Thursday, the judge requested South undergo a competency evaluation at Western State Hospital. He is currently being held in jail. 

South is also facing an assault charge for injuring a Pierce County deputy when he attempted to flee from an interview room after his arrest, court documents state.
