On Tuesday, the local office of the FBI introduced the new Special Agent in charge.

Jay S. Tabb, Jr., was a bit more tight-lipped than his predecessor. Especially when asked how the FBI might be impacted by the new administration.

But he and his agents shared some thoughts on recent mass shootings, like the Cascade Mall.

Tabb spoke about social responsibility in cases like the Mukilteo shootings, where the suspect allegedly texted his intentions to others.

Tabb and Assistant Special Agent Carlos Mojica touched on a list of other problems -- like the heroin epidemic.

And the unsolved murder of federal prosecutor Tom Wales, killed 15 years ago at his home in Seattle.

What takes him by surprise the most?

Tabb and his agents said despite a slight uptick in hate crimes across the country -- that they haven't seen a spike here.

Tabb served on the agency's Hostage Rescue Team and has been awarded the FBI Medal of Valor and two FBI stars.
