SEATAC, Wash. — Officials at SEA Airport say operations are nearly back to normal after a cyberattack took systems offline last weekend.
Travelers on most domestic flights should be able to check bags as they normally would, without major wait times, according to an airport spokesperson.
International flights and low-volume carriers are still impacted, with some airlines hand-writing bag tags and boarding passes, the spokesperson said.
"If you don't have to check a bag, that'll make a difference," spokesperson Perry Cooper told KING 5. "[But] quite honestly, a lot of travelers will go through the process and not even notice there's a problem."
Cooper said security lines are moving at the standard pace with most passengers getting through lines within 30 minutes.
While many systems are back on track, Cooper said the flight status boards and baggage claim information boards are still out.
He suggested travelers use their airline's app to monitor that information.
There are also announcements being made at baggage claim to let people know where to find their luggage; airport staff have also been assigned to act as customer service representatives near the carousels.
Airport staff discovered unauthorized activity on its system Saturday morning. They confirmed Sunday afternoon that this was a cyberattack.
More than 500,000 people are expected to flight in or out of SEA Airport during the days leading into and out of Labor Day.
