Multiple victims recovered from site of deadly fire in Rockport; police searching for missing truck

Investigators asked for the public's help locating a blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck with the license plate C67636L which is currently unaccounted for.

SKAGIT COUNTY, Wash. — Three victims were found at the site of a deadly house fire in Rockport, along state Route 530.

The victims' remains have been turned over to the Skagit County medical examiner. The Mount Vernon Police Department has not released the identities of the victims.

Deputies from the Skagit County Sheriff's Office were called to the home Friday in the 15000 block of SR 530 just before 10:30 a.m. to a report of a building fire.

Investigators learned the home belonged to a non-law enforcement, contract Skagit County employee, so they turned the investigation over to MVPD.

The two-story home was destroyed in the fire. Several victims were located, but recovery efforts took days because the structure had completely collapsed. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Washington State Patrol and the Skagit County Fire Marshall are assisting in the investigation.

Investigators asked for the public's help with finding a blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck with the Washington license plate C67636L. The car belonged to someone at the home but was unaccounted for at the scene of the fire.

Anyone who witnessed or has information about the fire is asked to call Mount Vernon's 24-hour dispatch information number (360) 428-3211 or during business hours call Mount Vernon police at (360) 336-6271.
