Old Arlington school house will soon be home for recovering addicts

ARLINGTON -- A school house in Arlington built in 1888 is being converted into a school of life.

ARLINGTON -- A school house in Arlington built in 1888 is being converted into a school of life.

Kris Wright plans to buy the historic Trafton School for $450,000.

His vision is to renovate it into a house for men who are recovering from addiction with drugs or alcohol, and teach them money management skills and how to find a job.

"We'll teach them life skills and it's the connection between rehab and 12 Step, and basically bridge the gap kind of a thing," said Kris Wright of Camano Island.

Wright understands how tough life can be. He has been in and out of rehab in the past, but he's been clean now for two and a half years.

He owns a trucking company with more than 100 employees and feels it's time to give back.

"I've been given a gift so I want to do everything I can. If you can just help one that's somebody's kid," said Wright.

He plans to live on the property as well, and said there will be strict rules with drug tests and random house inspections. Wright plans to maintain the building with rent money from people living there.
