One dead after car crashes into Lake Stevens home

Police say a Lake Stevens Police officer attempted to pull the driver over for erratic driving. The driver took off at speeds of over 100 mph and crashed into the home, traveling at least 70 mph.

A passenger was killed after a car crashed into a Lake Stevens home Thursday morning.

Police say a Lake Stevens Police officer attempted to pull the driver over for erratic driving on Highway 9 near Highway 92 around 3 a.m. The driver took off at speeds of over 100 mph and crashed into the home, traveling at least 90 mph.

The passenger in the car died at the scene. The driver had to be cut out of the car and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

A person was sleeping in the room that the car hit and was knocked out of bed, but was not seriously injured.

Police are investigating it as a vehicular homicide. No other details were immediately available.
