Police activity closes Sea-Tac Airport security checkpoint

A suspicious package incident at Sea-Tac Airport has been cleared, and a security checkpoint has reopened.

Police closed checkpoint 5 on the north end of the ticketing level near the Alaska Airlines counter for several hours Wednesday night.

A bomb squad and several agencies, including the FBI, TSA and the ATF, were called.

After crews checked out the situation, an official said medication in a suitcase alerted one of the bomb sniffing dogs. Protocol required airport officials to call the various agencies.

The owner of the suitcase was detained and later let go. No charges were filed.

No operations were impacted.
