A 29-year-old man was arrested and is under investigation for murder, according to the Kenmore Police Department.

KENMORE, Wash. — A 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly hitting and killing a family member with a vehicle on Tuesday night.

Kenmore police responded to a home in the 18700 block of 71st Avenue Northwest on Aug. 20. At the scene, one person was killed when a domestic dispute escalated into one person striking a family member with a car, police said.

The domestic dispute happened in a quiet residential neighborhood just blocks from Kenmore City Hall.

A 29-year-old man was arrested and booked in the King County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder. His bail was set at $1 million.

Police did not initially say how the victim and the man were related.

A family member shared their shock with KING 5 on Wednesday. They said the man who died is the stepdad of the suspect.

Forrest Albin's father, J.D. Albin, was the victim. He said his father died in the driveway of their family home, where he grew up.

"The family is mourning the loss of a father and, a brother. It's awful what happened yesterday. We're just grieving at this time," said Albin.

"This comes as a shock to the family, and we're grieving," said Albin.

Amid their grief, the family is undergoing the process of making unexpected funeral arrangements and created a fundraiser to collection donations.

Police have not yet released any other details about what led up to the domestic dispute.

Kenmore police say there is no threat to the public. The King County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
