SEATTLE-- Pike Place Market's mascot has had a rough month, but she'll be back in place in two weeks after a short welcome home tour.

Rachel the Pig, the metal piggybank that has sat outside Pike Place Market since 1986, was hit by a taxi last month, causing a crack on top of her left ear, and a large, shallow dent on her left side.

The statue went back to the artist, Georgia Gerber, who welded, sanded and repaired Rachel.

Rachel will return to Pike Place Market on Friday, March 18. However, the week leading up to her return, she will be visiting well-known locations throughout Seattle. They are:

  • Sunday, March 13: The Space Needle from 10am-3pm
  • Monday, March 14: Colman Dock from 2pm-6pm
  • Tuesday, March 15: City Hall from 10am-3pm
  • Wednesday, March 16: SAM (Seattle Art Museum) from 10am-3pm
  • Thursday, March 17: Occidental Park (Pioneer Square) from 10am-3pm
  • Friday, March 18: Westlake Plaza from 9am to 1pm

Money dropped into Rachel goes to the Market Foundation, which raises money and awareness for the Pike MarketMedical Clinic, Pike Market Food Bank, Pike Market Childcare and Preschool and Pike Market Senior Center.
