RENTON, Wash. — A fire broke out at a Renton retirement home early Wednesday morning.
There were no injuries, according to Puget Sound Fire.
Eleven units at Solstice Senior Living were impacted, however, only one was damaged by the fire itself. The other units and section of the hallway sustained either smoke damage or water damage from the facility's sprinkler system, according to a fire personnel spokesperson.
Twelve people were displaced. Most will temporarily stay with family members or stay at another senior housing facility.
The fire suppression system helped to keep the fire contained to one unit on the third floor of the facility that was under construction. The cause was determined to be electrical, according to Puget Sound Fire.
The fire started at 1:20 a.m. and took 45 minutes to get under control.
