RENTON, Wash. -- For the second time this year, thieves have stolen thousands of dollars' worth of equipment from a youth baseball league in Renton.
Parents in the Cascade Vista Athletic Club have pretty much resigned to the notion that there's just no stopping some people.
"They woke me up yesterday morning with the police call," said Robert Ryan, a parent who is also president of the CVAC.
He could only shake his head after learning that thieves again broke into his club's storage sheds.
The latest burglary happened over the weekend. They're missing a generator, some lawn maintenance equipment, and two pitching machines.
"Looks like they knew what they were looking for, what they're going to do with pitching machines, I have no idea," said Ryan.
Police are trying to figure out if it's the same person or people who cut the locks in October and stole two lawn mowers.
In all, it's a roughly $5,000 hit to a group that needs every dollar.
"It's probably ten percent of our budget," said Ryan.
This is not a fancy league, just a community organization that brings the game to a lot of kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity. Some players come from low-income families.
"We keep our fees low so that everybody can get a chance to play," said Ryan.
A Renton police spokesperson said there have been no arrests and they are still seeking information on the thefts.
