Roberta Romero joined KING 5 News in March 1991 as a general assignment reporter. She came to Seattle from KOB-TV in Albuquerque, NM. Her earlier experience includes general assignment reporter positions at KOBF-TV in Albuquerque, NM., KTSM-TV in El Paso, TX., and KRWG-TV in Las Cruces, NM.
Romero's work in broadcasting earned her the First Place-Spot News Award from the Albuquerque Press Club in both 1989 and 1990. She also won a 1989 First Place-Spot News Award from the New Mexico Associated Press. In 1987, Romero merited a First Place-Student Entry Award from the New Mexico Associated Press. The New Mexico Broadcast Association awarded her with a Scholarship Award in 1986. She is a member of both the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Journalists Association.
Romero earned a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism in 1986 from New Mexico State University. When she is not reporting a story, Roberta is at home with her son and twin daughters.
