The Seattle Public Library set a new world record for longest book domino chain around 11 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2013.

The Seattle Public Library now holds the world record for the longest book domino chain.

After seven hours and five attempts, volunteers successfully set up a total of 2,131 books in a long domino chain around 11 p.m. last Friday. Then, they watched the books topple over in a matter of minutes.

The book domino chain wound throughout the library and around visitors who were sitting on the floor reading. One portion spelled out the word, read.

The stunt, which was a collaboration between the library and local residents, kicked off the library's summer reading program.
