SEATTLE - Tuesday evening Seattle police released dash cam video from two separate officer-involved shootings.

The first confrontation happened just before 3 a.m. A security guard at a downtown building called police about a man with what appeared to be a handgun.

Police say they found the suspect running westbound on Spring Street, refusing to follow repeated orders to "drop the gun."

An officer fired shots, striking the suspect in the hand, according to police. The 25-year-old man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say they discovered the suspect had actually been carrying a "realistic-looking pellet gun."

Less than two hours later in Seattle's Maple Leaf neighborhood, an unrelated call came in about a car prowl suspect. Police said they contacted the suspect in the 1000 block of NE 98th Street, and saw he was carrying a knife.

In the dash cam recording you hear an officer yell, "put your knife down." A man screams back, "No, I'm not dropping it."

An officer used a Taser, but it failed to stop the suspect, according to police. A chase of the suspect followed, and police say what happened next was out of the camera's signal range, so it was not included in the released video.

Daylight brought dozens of investigators and confirmation that an officer shot the car prowl suspect multiple times, sending him to the hospital with critical injuries.

The Force Investigations Team and Crime Scene Investigators are processing evidence and reviewing statements from both incidents. Per policy, members of the Office of Professional Accountability were on hand to observe the investigations. Also, under standard policy, two officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.

Detectives are seeking photos and videos from the scenes, and are interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed either incident. You can call 206-684-9292 with information.
