SEATTLE — Five people were injured in a drive-by shooting near Occidental Square early Sunday morning, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Police were called to a report of a shooting near Occidental Avenue South and South Washington Street at around 2 a.m. on Christmas Eve. When officers arrived, they found multiple victims with bullet wounds.
Minutes later, a second call came in about gunshot wound victims at Second Avenue and University Street. They told police they fled from the shooting scene police had responded to initially.
Seattle Fire took five victims in total to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. The victims, four men aged 34, 27, 26 and 25 and one 25-year-old woman, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Police believe there was a drive-by shooting during the close of bars and nightclubs near Occidental Square. The gunfire injured the five victims as they were standing outside on the street. Police discovered a black sedan and a white sedan were potentially involved in the shooting. Both cars were seen traveling westbound on South Washington street.
Officers are still investigating what led up to the shooting. Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives are leading the investigation.
