'I hope to be a motivator for other AANHPI women': Seattle AI company founder shares journey

According to Women Tech, as of 2023, women make up 35 percent of STEM employees in the U.S.

SEATTLE — This month a Seattle woman's AI company is turning six years old. Being a leader in this emerging and evolving industry, Surbhi Rathore said she is excited for what's to come in the next five to 10 years.

"I feel very proud to be a leader in the AANHPI community in the AI industry," said Rathore, the CEO and founder of Symbal.ai.

Because she is aware of the lower number of women-founded tech-based businesses among Asian-Pacific ethnicities, Rathore said she hopes to inspire others.

"I hope to inspire and motivate other women in the tech industry to lead their own companies," Rathore said.

According to Women Tech, as of 2023, women make up 35 percent of STEM employees in the U.S. The American STEM labor force represents only 25 percent of the total U.S. labor force.

Rathore's company aims to naturalize AI language for companies. She calls it "revolutionary" because it makes it more human.
